Baker Out as Nationals Manager

Dusty Baker is out as the Washington Nationals’ manager, the team announced Friday, days after yet another postseason failure for the franchise.

Despite leading Washington to the NL East crown in both seasons of his two-year deal, Baker was not offered an extension after the Nats were eliminated by the Chicago Cubs in the National League Division Series in five games last week — the second straight year the Nationals were beaten in the NLDS with a deciding game at home.

The team also announced it would not renew the contracts of Baker’s coaching staff.
