DC’s First Humanities, Arts & Technology Festival at Gateway DC
DC’s First Humanities, Arts & Technology Festival at Gateway DC Set for August 2-3, 2014
Free, Family Festival to Engage Residents in DC’s Creative Economy
Hear, see, create, learn, taste, dance and interact at the city’s first Humanities, Arts & Technology Festival at Gateway DC – Ward 8’s new innovative urban park and pavilion on the St. Elizabeths East campus. The first HATFestDC (modified from the Arts & Humanities Festival which began last year) scheduled for August 2-3 from 1 to 6 p.m., is designed to inspire families and creative entrepreneurs through unique and up-close interaction with the work and processes behind the creative economy of the nation’s capital. With a theme of “Humanities, Arts & Technology at Work,” HATFestDC will demonstrate how to thrive in creative fields, while inspiring both adults and youth to build projects and programs with H.A.T. (humanities, arts, and technology) disciplines at the center. This first festival in a two-part series scheduled for August and October is sure to be a great time for anyone who enjoys music, culture, the arts, performance, technology and culinary arts.
The HATFestDC will feature a main performance area and five themed tents focused on music, visual arts and graphic design, food, technology and children’s activities. Concurrently, each area will include interactive workshops, readings, artist talks and panel discussions, robotics, art creation, theatrical performances and chef demonstrations. Dozens of vendor spaces will provide area entrepreneurs a chance to authentically connect and establish relationships with potential consumers.
The complete festival schedule will be announced at hatfestdc.com and @HATFestDC on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook; HATFestDC encourages both volunteers and vendors to register online prior to July 30.
