Washington Project for the Arts (WPA) brings DC’s performance art explosion to the pool with SynchroSwim 2014, the fourth iteration of WPA’s synchronized swimming performance art competition. Typically, synchronized swimming demands advanced water skills and requires great strength, endurance, flexibility, grace, artistry, and precise timing, as well as exceptional breath control; WPA’s SynchroSwim celebrates creativity and enthusiasm. Past performances have included a biting critique of BP’s role in the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill, a celebration of the music of Van Halen, an excerpt from Fluid Movement’s Jason and the Aquanauts: 20,000 Legs Over The Sea, and even a performance by a real live Synchronized Swimming team.

Date: Saturday, August 16, 2014, 5-8pm
