The David C. Driskell Center is thrilled to welcome in the new year with an important new exhibition- HEROES: GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN, THE ART OF CHARLES WHITE. Please join us for an exhibition that features over 50 of White's prints, paintings, and drawings that span his career of nearly 50 years.
Charles White's use of social realism and his unflinching portrayal of strength in the face of racial adversity makes him one of the most important American artists of the 20th century. This landmark exhibition, featuring many works that have never been shown before, is the largest collection of White's works to be displayed in several decades. Most of the works come from the Arthus Primas collection, and the exhibition is organized by Landau Traveling Exhibitions. The Driskell Center is proud to present several of White's works from its own permanent collection as well.
We're excited to be presenting the work of such a talented and influential artist! We hope you'll join us for the opening on January 30th at 5PM, which will feature opening remarks by Professor David C. Driskell and the Driskell Center's Acting Executive Director, Professor Curlee Holton.
