The 2nd Annual InterFaith (iFaith) Golf Tournament has been scheduled for April 25 (Easter Monday) and will once again be held at the beautiful Lake Presidential Golf Club in Upper Marlboro Maryland. The 2010 event attracted an assortment of area churches who competed for the coveted iFaith Golf Cup and through their participation, a check for $1000 was presented to the Capital Area Food Bank. “We are thrilled that our last tournament allowed us to make a meaningful contribution toward the hard work that is being done by the Capital Area Food Bank,” stated tournament founder Lou Phillips.

The InterFaith Golf Tournament is designed to provide an event that will foster inter-denominational fellowship and stewardship. “The game of golf is a perfect way of getting individuals to spend quality time together and thus encourage deep abiding fellowship,” states the 2011 Honorary Chairman Reverend Dr. Howard John Wesley of Alfred Street Baptist Church in Alexandria, Virginia.

Dr. Wesley is the esteemed pastor of Alfred Street Baptist Church, a 205 year old institution that has significant history in the Northern Virginia community. He was received as only the 8th pastor at Alfred Street in 2008, when he arrived with his wife, Debbie McCain Wesley, and their two sons. Additionally, Dr. Wesley is an avid golfer and is equally passionate about the mission of providing assistance to the growing number of people who find themselves suffering from food shortage.

“It’s such a blessing to have Dr. Wesley agree to be our Honorary Chair. I’m prayerful that having him associated with this event will only enhance our ability to be successful in this much needed kingdom work.,” according to Lou Phillips.
