“Our military members have made invaluable contributions that have enabled Americans to live better lives. So it’s an honor for GlaxoSmithKline to partner on this event to help our military members, veterans and their families lead healthier lives,” said Cheryl MacDiarmid, GSK’s Vice President of Cardiovascular/Metabolic/Urology. “Alarmingly, approximately 72 percent of veterans have one or more chronic conditions. This health screening will help attendees to take charge of their health.”
Former Redskins’ players Ken Harvey, Ron Saul and Ricky Ervins, as well as Redskins Cheerleaders and the Hogettes will be on site honoring veterans and supporting them in taking steps to better protect themselves and their families from chronic diseases. Attendees will also have the opportunity to tour the Redskins locker room and get a player’s perspective of FedExField while learning how to be proactive about their health.
"The fourth annual Timeout for Military Veterans' Health event tackles chronic diseases head-on and raises veterans' awareness about the importance of adopting healthy lifestyle habits," said Mitch Gershman, Washington Redskins Chief Marketing Officer. "The Washington Redskins, GlaxoSmithKline and our other health and wellness partners are proud to be executing sustainable and impactful health prevention programs for our military members and veterans."
GlaxoSmithKline provided development, funding and editorial support for this program.
