June 19th (formerly known as Juneteenth) is not the only Emancipation Day celebrated by African-Americans nationally. Washington, D.C. celebrates the signing of the Emancipation Act by Abraham Lincoln on April 16th with the entire month of April dedicated to the observance of the ending of slavery. On the date of April 30, however, Emancipation Day is being marked as the day to Emancipate Yourself from Medical Mental Slavery. It is a day of self-awareness predicated of how you are consciously taking care of your health and healing your body. The brain child of Dr. Karen Davis-Foulks, PMD, DL, NESCP (non-secular science of health & healing), the day was created out of the need to re-educate and remind individuals of the powers they possess as a divine being born with the birth right of pure health.

Dr. Foulks insists that we experience cellular malfunctions due to two main causes: toxicity and deficiency. She states that these malfunctions in the body are due to the lack of education as to how the physical body works and what it takes to keep the body operating at optimal health. As a doctor of lymphology, Dr. Foulks shares information on Cellular Ecology and as a preventive medicine doctor she shares information on western prescription drug usage and the toxic effect it has on the body. She further believes that there is only one disease and that is the "THOUGHT of disease." All you have to do for health is to give your cells what they need and protect them from what they don't need. Health is a choice. To stay in good health become mindful of your environment and choose what to put in your body and on your body," remarks Dr. Foulks.

This Monday, April 30th, 2012 is the 1st Anniversary of Emancipate Yourself from Medical Mental Slavery Day and Festival. The event features an Awards Dinner honoring individuals who have buried disease thinking and disease care. Awards will be presented to eight individuals from the Greater Washington DC Metropolitan community who've shared the "Natural Art of True Living" concept with members of their respective constituencies. These honorees have demonstrated their passion, dedication and commitment to "conscious healthcare," while supporting Dr. K's vision for a disease free society. One of the eight Honorees will be awarded with the prestigious Dr. Nathaniel L. Caine Health and Healing Humanitarian Award of the Year. Over the past forty years, Dr. Caine has made a major impact on the lives of so many individuals. One of his favorite sayings is, "If you don't like what you see change your thinking."

The overall theme of the program centers around one question - How am I caring for my health and the health of my family and community? The event will be held at THEARC located 1901 Mississippi Avenue, SE in Washington, D.C. from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M on Monday, April 30, 2012.
