An introductory tweet posted Friday (Jan. 13) stated that, "We're excited today to launch @michelleobama as a new way for you to connect with First Lady Michelle Obama and the President's campaign."
A second tweet tells followers to look out for the "-mo" signature to differentiate the first lady's messages from those of the campaign staff.
The first lady gained more than 116,000 followers in the first five hours compared to her husband, President Barack Obama, who has some 11.8 million followers.
