Macy's Metro Center and the Romare Bearden Foundation celebrate Black History Month with an evening of elegance commemorating the 100th birthday of one of America's foremost 20th Century Artists, Romare Bearden.
The public is invited to preview a satellite exhibit of Romare Bearden's artwork, featuring a series of watercolors, prints and oil on paper that date from 1964-1984. In addition to works on loan from the foundation, new pieces by artists inspired and influenced by Bearden's life and legacy will be on display.
During the reception a new generation of jazz musicians will perform Bearden's music. Bearden's music has been previously recorded by Branford Marsalis, Tito Puente and Billy Eckstine.
The event takes place at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 16, Macy's Metro Center (Men's Furnishings), 1201 G. St. in Northwest.
