Principle #6 – If we fail to plan, we plan to fail.
We’ve been teaching the 13 principles to success by the late Napoleon Hill, author of the bestselling book, “Think and Grow Rich.” Hill reminds us, “Richness is whatever it is you happen to want.” This week, we talk about the need to move toward your goal with “organized planning.” Every man needs a plan to reach his goal. Once you have a plan you will know what steps are next. You've heard the cliché - If we fail to plan, we plan to fail.
This, a weekly series given to me by God, teaches success principles found in the bible, interwoven with these principles researched by Hill. Let’s talk about your plans now.
Paramount Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Ishmael Shaw, Pastor, will hold its 15th annual Harvest Day Community Block Party and Health Fair on Saturday, September 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Paramount is located, in Ward 8, at 3924 4th Street, S. E., Washington.
The day’s event will provide an opportunity for the Church and community to come together in unity. EVERYTHING WILL BE FREE -- food, fun and games for the children, clothes give-a-way, testimonies, drawing for prizes, and much more.
The Health Fair will provide screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose (diabetes), spirometry (lung function), body fat, osteoporosis, PSA for prostate health, HIV testing and education, foot care, and more. There will also be education on nutritional foods, diabetes, and kidney function. Come out and take advantage of this opportunity.

D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty has not graced a mid-day Monday meeting of the Missionary Baptist Ministers Conference of D.C. and Vicinity in four years.
Council Chairman Vincent Gray, on the other hand, has met with the group regularly. Still neither of the D.C. mayoral candidates, or Leo Alexander, another leading democratic mayoral hopeful, has won the confidence or support of the pastors who represent more than 200 churches, large and small, in the District and surrounding areas.

Last Saturday, the Delta Pi Chapter of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc. sponsored what is expected to become an annual ‘High Tea,’ at The All Nations Baptist Church in Northeast. The church is officiated over by The Reverend Dr. James Coleman. We invited the Honorable Mary G. Terrell, founder of The High Tea Society to be our keynote for the afternoon event.
Judge Terrell was nominated to the D.C. Superior Court by President Bill Clinton and confirmed by the United States Senate in 1997. The charismatic judge successfully raised three children and has been married for 35 years to Rev. Dr. James E. Terrell, pastor of the historic Second Baptist Church in Northwest.

“Press On!”
“So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. For in just a very little while,…”Hebrew 10:35-37.
Simply put, stick with it. Don't quit! And, don't take no for an answer. Instead pray daily, use your imagination, and find a way around your obstacles, persistence pays! Hill said something like this about the principle - Persistence.

1ST Kings, 17:2-8, Elijah…. said to Ahab, “As the Lord the God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall be neither dew nor rain these years, except by my word.” 2And the word of the Lord came to him, 3“Depart from here and turn eastward and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, which is east of the Jordan. 4You shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.”
West Philadelphia author Shannon Bellamy writes about a very sensitive topic. Her first published book “Pimps in the Pulpit,” received national attention, as she wrote about those in church leadership who abuse their positions. Now, she is planning the release of her sequel titled “Breaking the Silence,” that continues her exposure of West Philadelphia clergymen she says are not being faithful to their flock.
Bellamy revealed the details of her relationship to a West Philadelphia pastor in her first book. This pastor was married at the time Bellamy became involved with him. “Breaking the Silence” now continues the saga.

This series is designed to help you understand the research discovered by the late author Napoleon Hill over a period of 20 years; research which shows the secrets to success, now available to anyone willing to apply them.
He discovered these secrets by watching and interacting with Henry Ford, John D. Rockefeller and John Wanamaker, the founder of Philadelphia-based Wanamaker’s department store and others. Hill, who penned “Think and Grow Rich,” reminds us that Thomas Edison failed 10,000 times before he made the electric light. His success formula describes steps that can be considered an insurance policy against failure.

People in powerful positions sometimes allow their stature to go to their heads. I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” The more important the position, job or appointment, it oftentimes causes individuals to develop an overstated sense of themselves.
It doesn’t matter where your power lies, whether it’s a husband who has too much power over his wife, an employer who exerts too much authority over his or her employees, even if you’re the praise and worship leader, a minister or a deacon. Lighten up, and don’t let all of that power go to your head. It is not about you, it’s about God!
