Atlanta's Tommy Hanson extended his scoreless innings streak to 26 before Adam Dunn's 300th career homer and the Washington Nationals rallied for four eighth-inning runs and a 5-3 victory over the Braves on Saturday.
Hanson departed with a 3-1 lead after seven innings and was in line for his fifth straight victory before the Braves bullpen blew up, halting Atlanta's winning streak at a season-high five.
Mike Gonzalez (3-1) loaded the bases in the eighth on a pinch-hit single by Ronnie Belliard and a pair of walks before Peter Moylan relieved and yielded a two-run, game-tying single to Ryan Zimmerman.

Washington's Bullpen Implodes Again
During a Friday night contest that started a half an hour sooner in order to get in a fireworks display after the game, the Washington Nationals lost to the Atlanta Braves on Fri. July 3 by the score on 9-8, as the bullen blew yet another game.
With the score tied, relief pitcher Jesus Colume walked two batters before giving up a 2-out three run homer run to pinch hitter Brooks Conrad. The Nats managed a late rally in the 9th inning on a double by shortstop Christian Guzman that scored first baseman Nick Johnson and third baseman Ryan Zimmerman, both aboard on walks, but Guzman remained stranded at second as catcher Josh Bard - swinging on the first pitch, rolled a grounder to first, at the Nats fell once again.

The Washington Nationals wrapped up Interleague play with a three-game series against the Boston Red Sox on June 23-25 in games that saw sellout crowds in all three contests. The Red Sox won the first two games; the Nats won the final contest.

First-Ever Domestic Violence Awareness Day will be held at Nationals Park
The Washington Nationals and Becky’s Fund will host Domestic Violence Awareness Day at Nationals Park on Fri., July 3, when the team plays the Atlanta Braves at 6:35pm. Becky’s Fund is a public charity dedicated to domestic violence awareness and prevention. The Nationals have joined the fight against this human rights offense and invite their fans to strike out domestic violence with Becky’s Fund.
The Nationals will raise awareness throughout the evening’s game with PSA’s, during pregame ceremonies, and through the distribution of materials at the team’s Community Desk. Ward 5 Councilmember Harry Thomas will present a resolution passed by the D.C. City Council prior to the start of the game, declaring July 3, 2009 “Domestic Violence Awareness Day†in Washington, DC, and will present The Bill of Domestic Violence Rights.
