Chartese Burnett, one of the top African American women executives in professional sports, has been promoted to Vice President of Communications and Community Relations for the Washington Nationals. Prior to her promotion, Burnett served four years as VP of Communications; having been one of the initial executive hires in the teamâ€™s inaugural season in Washington. Embarking upon her fifth season with the Washington Nationals Baseball Club, Burnett will continue to develop, coordinate, and direct public relations and community service activities for the team.
She will continue to assist in the development of the teamâ€™s communications strategy, working closely with the Nationalsâ€™ marketing and sales department to integrate the teamâ€™s messaging internally and externally. Burnett will also be charged with launching and overseeing the Clubâ€™s minority outreach efforts, with the goal of making the Nationals a professional sports leader in minority relations within Major League Baseball (MLB) and the Washington metropolitan area.
