SULTRY JAZZ SINGER “INDIGO”POISED TO RETURN TO A PLACE THAT SHE LOVES… “THE STAGE”

Sultry Jazz Singer Indigo returns to Blues Alley for A One-Night Only Summer Affair with two shows on Monday, August 2, 2010 at 8pm and 10 pm! She is Versatile, Sultry, Mesmerizing ... and will leave you wanting more!

As a talented and gifted lover of jazz, Indigo's diverse repertoire has paid homage to the pioneering jazz divas that topped the charts during the 30s and 40s, such as Ella Fitzgerald and Lady Day. Indigo’s musical range, coupled with her velvety smooth contemporary flair, brings her jazzy sound to full flavor with love ballads by music icons like Phoebe Snow, Anita Baker, Roberta Flack, and so many others. She moves her crowd with a rhythm akin to that of a consummate storyteller, as only she can do ...weaving the joys and heartbreaks of love into a soulful experience that has inspired her fans for nearly 20 years.

In 1992, Indigo was the recipient of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority's Young Artist Award, and in 2003, she was selected as a Semi-Finalist in the Baltimore's 14th Annual Billie Holiday Vocal Competition. Performances include the Kennedy Center, Blues Alley, Carter Barron, and the Prince George’s Harlem Renaissance Festival.

Here’s what the Washington Post's critics said of Indigo's last album “The Gift, “What distinguishes “The Gift” from the seemingly endless streams of sound-alike smooth Jazz albums can be summed up in one Word: Indigo. ...her interpretations radiate warmth and lyricism as well as affection.”

Without a doubt, Indigo exudes power on center stage with her gripping alto voice reminiscent of the jazz greats who made listening to music an elegant experience. She will be débuting songs from her upcoming CD entitled “Not Always Blue” due out in early 2011. Selections will include “Once Upon A time” and “Thinking about You”

Her pure jazz vocals, combined with her natural stage flare, is something you won't want to miss! Mark your calendar to see the Jazz Artist Indigo in concert, Monday, August 2, 2010 at Blues Alley (1073 Wisconsin Avenue, NW, Washington, DC). Two (2) Show times: 8pm and 10pm with general admission only $18.
