The 60th Session of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, Second Episcopal District, Washington Annual Conference concluded with a convincing and persuasive sermon delivered by the Presiding Prelate, Bishop Adam J. Richardson entitled, “The Urgency of NOW”. Reflecting on the opening statement of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s 1963 speech at the Lincoln Memorial in the nation’s capital, where Dr. King publicly avowed, “We have come to this hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of Now”.
Urging the conference towards that same urgency, Bishop Richardson declared a need to deliberate and intentional actions because the community needs our attention; people need our love and the church doors must literally be open seven days a week for vibrant worship, fervent prayer and to meet the needs of the people.
