On Saturday, October 30th Babie Girl Productions will host a “dress to impress” professional boxing event at the Historic Masonic Temple on U Street in Washington, DC. “We are calling it a ‘Black tie’, but we really just want people to wear what they feel corresponds to the occasion,” says Babie Girl President Cassandra White.
The “occasion” Ms. White wants people “to dress up for” is another fight card she has put together to “keep bringing boxing back to D.C”. People who attend the occurrence will enjoy a full night of entertainment. The “Double Header Main Event” bouts are contests sanctioned by the Global Boxing Association (GBA).

The Washington Redskins played the Indianapolis Colts down to the wire but cam up short 27-24. London Fletcher puts a big hit on Indianapolis Colts running back Joseph Addai during the game last night at FedEx field. Photos by John E De FreitasA mixture of too much Manning and too many missed opportunities led to the Washington Redskins falling to the Indianapolis Colts 27-24 in front of a nationally televised audience and 87, 883 in attendance at FedEx Field.
The Colts shredded the Redskins defense for 469 yards, 307 of them coming from the future first-ballot hall of fame arm of quarterback Peyton Manning, who handled the no-huddle defense like a precise surgeon throwing two touchdowns along the way. Running back Joseph Addai rushed for 128 yards on 17 carries and scored a touchdown.
Despite the Colts’s offensive prowess, the Redskins had numerous opportunities to turn the contest in their favor. However, the defense dropped three crucial interceptions and other offensive opportunities fell by the wayside.
“”We had some opportunities offensively and some opportunities with turnovers that we didn’t capitalize on,” said Redskins Head Coach Mike Shanahan. You don’t have a lot of big plays against them so you have to out-execute them and we didn’t do that as well.”
There were some notable players on the offensive side for the Redskins. Running back Ryan Torain notched his first 100-yard game on 28 carries and scored a touchdown. Quarterback Donovan McNabb threw for 246 yards and one touchdown, but also threw two interceptions.
The Redskins are now 3-3 and travel to Soldier Field in Chicago, IL to face the 4-2 Bears. The Bears still lead the NFC North despite losing to Seattle at home, 23-20. If the Redskins defense can imitate the play of the Seahawks defense (who sacked Bears quarterback Jay Cutler six times), it would be a nice coming out party.

BEARS GET BY BRONCOS TO STAY UNBEATEN IN CONFERENCE PLAY
RALEIGH, NC - Quarterback Kevin Atkins accounted for 250 of Shaw’s 377 yards of total offense as the Bears stayed in contention for the CIAA Southern Division title with a 34-27 win over the Fayetteville State Broncos (2-5, 1-3 CIAA). Atkins, a 6-2, 216 pound senior from Durham, NC, passed for two touchdowns and ran for a score as the Bears improved to 5-2 and 4-0 in the conference and kept pace with Saint Augustine’s for first place in the division and the berth in the CIAA Championship game that goes along with it.

What a difference three weeks makes in the continuing saga of Calvin Coolidge’s 2010 football season. The Colts after spoiling Roosevelt’s homecoming shutting out the Rough Riders 16-0 now find themselves in first place of the DCIAA’S Western Division. “ Our players are growing up.” Said Coolidge head coach Natalie Randolph. “We had players in their first year of high school ball and they are learning.”
The Colts (3-5) have now beaten Anacostia 48-12 at home and traveled on the road to beat Cardozo 48-6 and most recently Roosevelt 16-0. “ We are getting better each week.” said coach Randolph. “ I have a great coaching staff and I have a lot of confidence in them.”
Coolidge features a trio of running backs on offense led by 5’11 185 Sr. Christopher Strong who finished his night with 95 yards on 15 carries and scoring both of the Colts touchdowns. 5’9 185 Keith Dickens chipped in with 84 yards on 8 carries and Calvin Brown assisted with 18 yards.

Then he explained why these Texas Rangers -- his Rangers -- weren't the same old baseball team we've seen around Dallas-Fort Worth for much of the last 38 years.
"We're building a new tradition. We aren't doing anything fancy or anything new," he said. "We're just playing the game of baseball the right way.
"We're playing the game the way I was taught to play. We're playing the only way I know how to play." With every postseason triumph, the Rangers move further away from their irrelevant past.

BOWIE STATE DOWNS ECSU TO STAY IN DIVISION TITLE HUNT
The Bowie State Bulldogs came into Saturday’s game with division rival Elizabeth City State as the CIAA’s second ranked defensive unit; holding opponents to just under 230 yards a game. That vaunted defense was put to the test yesterday as ECSU’s Vikings rolled up 507 yards of total offense. But BSU capitalized on turnovers, got a huge play from their special teams and made key red zone stops to pull out a 20-12 victory over the Vikings and stay within striking distance of Northern Division leading Virginia State.

CHICAGO (AP) -- The way he was picking off passes, DeAngelo Hall looked like he was playing catch with Jay Cutler.
Hall tied an NFL record with four interceptions, running one back 92 yards for a touchdown, and the Washington Redskins sacked Cutler four times while forcing six turnovers in a 17-14 victory over the Chicago Bears on Sunday, Oct. 24.
Hall tied a record held by 18 others and became the first to pick off four passes since Deltha O'Neal did it with Denver in 2001. His one-handed interception and TD return late in the third quarter were made for the highlight reel and put the Redskins ahead for good, sending Chicago (4-3) to its third loss in four games.

The Washington Nationals today announced that field manager Jim Riggleman will return in 2011. Nationals Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.
In 2010 under Riggleman, the Nationals increased their win total from 59 to 69. Washington’s 10-game improvement tied for the fourth-best in MLB this season and trailed only San Diego (+15), Cincinnati (+13) and Tampa Bay (+12).
