Toronto's forward Dwayne De Rosario scored two second-half goals, Adrian Serioux added another, but a late penalty kick call for a hand ball by referee Baldomero Toledo on Marvell Wynne set up Jaime Moreno's (125 career goals) equalizer from the penalty spot in second-half stoppage time. That goal forced Toronto to settle for a 3-3 tie against D.C. United on Sat. May 9 at RFK Stadium before 15,562 fans.

“Listen, penalties go for you, penalties go against you. It's as simple as that,” said Toronto's interim coach Chris Cummings.

“Once the [first Toronto] goal was scored, we were taken off guard, and all of a sudden, we started getting put on our heels,” said United defender and captain Bryan Namoff. United Coach Tom Soehn said it was a game that the team did not feel good about walking away from.

“If we had lost today, it would be just miserable because we put too much effort into it,” said rookie goalkeeper Milos Kocic, who took responsibility for Toronto's first goal. "Every time we are losing, we keep fighting. It's just another example of the great team -- never stop playing, never give up, keep playing, keep playing."
