Playing a great portion of the game with reserves, Bowie State University had no trouble pounding Columbia Union College 68-39. The loss ends the CUC Lady Pioneers season with a 0-24 record. Bowie State closes out the regular season with a 17-10 record and will return to action Tue., Feb. 24 in the quarterfinal round of the CIAA Tournament in Charlotte.

Junior Denita Hill scored a season-high 13 points on five-of-nine shooting, which included three-of-four behind the arc to lead Bowie Stateâ€™s Lady Bulldogs. Junior Bianca Lee added 12 points and sophomores Teaunsha Robinson and Brittney Jackson chipped in 11 and 10 points respectively. Sophomore Lakisha Walker led Bowie State in the rebound department with six.
Bowie State held Columbia Union to 17 percent shooting in the first half (four-of-23). The Lady Bulldogs countered with 14-of-35 from the field (40 percent) in the first period. Much of Bowie Stateâ€™s scoring in the first 20 minutes came inside as the Lady Bulldogs held a 20- to 4 scoring advantage in the paint. Columbia Union also assisted in BSUâ€™s 32-12 halftime lead by committing 18 turnovers which resulted into 19 Lady Bulldogsâ€™ points.
Columbia Unionâ€™s field goal shooting improved slightly in the second half to 29 percent with the Lady Pioneers hitting 10-of-34 field goal attempts. Unfortunately for CUC, Bowie State improved its shooting percentage as well, making 14-of-30 from the floor (47 percent).
Erin Duffie led Columbia Unionâ€™s Lady Pioneers with 12 points to go along with eight rebounds. Naria Powell contributed nine points and six rebounds and Willona Johnson grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds in the setback.
