Washington Informer Zykia Brown, who has emerged as one of the top players in the conference, is coming off a career-high 31-point effort against Bethune-Cookman on Mon., Jan. 19. Zykia Brown scored a game-high 13 points and Tamaya Daniels just missed a double-double with 11 and nine rebounds to lead Howard to a 63-36 win over Winston-Salem State in a non-conference women's game at Burr Gymnasium. The win was the second straight for the Lady Bison (2-13) while the Lady Rams (0-14) are still looking for their first win.

“The morale is now high on this team,” said Niki Reid Geckeler, in her first year at the helm for the Lady Bison. “The win in that last game carried over to tonight. We showed more improvement on defense,” said Geckeler, who served as an assistant at Georgetown before taking the job at the Hilltop. “We did a good job, especially getting into the passing lanes.”
