EDC Gives in Time of Need

The Prince George's County Economic Development Corporation (EDC), under the leadership of President/CEO, Gwen McCall, is reaching out to the community and those less fortunate. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, the EDC is doing something to lessen the burden of our neighbors in need.

The EDC staff has collected financial donations and food contributions to assist the Disabled Veterans from the Iraq and Afghanistan War, unemployed County residents, and needy families in Prince George's County.

"The need is great in our community, and that need affords us the opportunity to give time and effort for a worthy cause," said President/CEO Gwen McCall.

Fire Inspectors Tour Gaylord ICE Exhibit

The Gaylord National Hotel and Convention Center's ICE! exhibit opened to the public on Nov. 18. Fire inspectors from the Prince George's County office of the Fire Marshal and firefighters from Oxon Hill Station 842 toured the exhibit to check for safety issues.

The facility was inspected with minor corrections recommended to ensure compliance with the Life Safety Code. This year's ICE! features Dream Works' Merry Madagascar theme which will run until Jan 8. It took 2 million pounds of carved ice to create the colorful display.

The Gaylord website describes the attraction as, "This 15,000-square-foot attraction--a unique, interactive indoor wonderland created entirely of ice -- is the crowning jewel of Christmas on the Potomac."
