The recent resignation of Harry Thomas Jr. from the City Council has spawned a list of more than 20 contenders for the vacant Ward 5 seat, according to a community source who e-mailed The Washington Informer. Among them are:

Mark Jones

Ron Magnus

Jacqueline Manning

Carolyn Steptoe

Tim Clark

Corey Griffin

Clarence Cherry

Shelly Gardner

The e-mail also lists Henderson, Hunter, Mangus, McDuffie and Salatti as the most serious candidates for the special election coming up this spring.
