Thanks to a generous donation of land by Matthews Memorial Baptist Church, 35 Ward 8 families are in the process of moving from Barry Farms to the brand new $22.5 million Matthews Memorial Terrace Apartments. A ribbon cutting for the new apartments was held Jan. 31 with Mayor Vincent Gray in attendance.
Amenities to the apartments include energy efficient appliances, a washer, dryer as well as large bathrooms and living space.
All totaled some 64 families will be moving into the complex that has been designated for low-income workers and senior citizens.
