Washington, D.C. area’s Ty Lawson gets the news and a congratulatory kiss from his mother, Jacqueline Lawson , after being selected number 18 by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2009 NBA draft.

Ty was immediately traded to the Denver Nuggets. He attended Bishop McNamara High School in Forestville, Md. then transferred to Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Va. Ty, who plays point guard, was instrumental in helping the University of North Carolina Tarheels win the NCAA Championship He is also joined by Nate Peake (center), Senior Advisor representing PMG, Inc. Management firm.
