Another woeful offensive performance led to another loss for the Washington Redskins as they fell to the San Francisco 49ers, 19-11 in front of 78.032 fans at FedEx Field. The Redskins have now lost four in a row.

After scoring no points in their loss last week, the Redskins came dangerously close to repeating the feat. A Graham Gano 59-yard field goal (that set a team record for longest field goal) and a fourth quarter touchdown pass from John Beck to Jabar Gaffney made the game look closer and more competitive than it actually was.Redskins

Beck completed 30 of 47 passes for 254 yards and had one interception and one touchdown. Despite back-to-back tough outings, Redskins Head Coach Mike Shanahan told reporters after the game that Beck will remain the starter.

"We've got to get better on offense," Shanahan said. "We still have pieces of the puzzle to put together. Everybody looks at the quarterback and says 'that's the guy.' But you can't make these mistakes we made and expect to win."

The 49ers had a strong local flavor to them and most played well. Tight end Vernon Davis (Dunbar High School, University of Maryland) caught four passes for 41 yards. Linebacker Ahmad Brooks (Hylton High, Fairfax, VA, University of Virginia) had two tackles and a sack. Linebacker NaVorro Bowman (Suitland High School) had seven tackles.

The Redskins (3-5) will travel to Miami, FL to face the Miami Dolphins (1-7). The Dolphins won their first game of the year by dominating the Kansas City Chiefs, 31-3 last Sunday. Quarterback Matt Moore threw three touchdown passes and Reggie Bush ran for 92 yards and a touchdown.

Ironically, Vernon Davis's younger brother Vontae (Dunbar High, University of Illinois) is a cornerback with the Dolphins, although he did not play last week because of an off-the-field incident.
