FORT WASHINGTON, MD – After a successful return of live racing in the fall of 2011 following a nearly three year absence, Rosecroft Raceway has been approved by the Maryland Racing Commission to schedule two live race meets totaling 54 live harness race dates in 2012.
The Commission approved the track's racing date request at its January 17 meeting.
Rosecroft will open Saturday, March 10 for a 25-night winter-spring race meeting, concluding on June 2. The track will have live racing on Tuesday and Saturday evenings with a first race post time of 7:25 p.m.
Live racing will return for a 29-night fall race meet beginning in mid- October through mid-December. The 54 live racing dates will mark the most at the facility since 2007.
"We were very excited to reopen Rosecroft Raceway in 2011 – first for simulcasting in late August and then for the 20-night live harness meet last fall. It delivered on our promise to bring this important economic asset back to life for Prince George's County and we were gratified by the positive response by our guests and horsemen," said Chris McErlean, Vice President of Racing for Penn National Gaming, Inc., parent company of Rosecroft Raceway. "We are hoping to capitalize on that momentum for more success in 2012," he added.
The track is open seven days a week for simulcasting of Harness and Quarter Horse racetracks from around the country. Admission and parking is free every day.
