I was saddened to hear of the passing of former Oakland Mayor and Congressman Ron Dellums. I remember seeing him a few years back at a Congressional Black Caucus event and, although he was reserved, his presence was larger than life. I know that his people and the Father upstairs is proud of his work here on earth. If you don’t know about what he’s done, please research his history and legacy. Well done, Mr. Dellums!

Shining Light on Ethiopia Day

How awesome is it that July 28 is declared “Ethiopia Day” by Mayor Muriel Bowser. I am not Ethiopian, but living in this area for the past 30 years, I have amassed plenty of Ethiopian friends, doctors, church members and associates and I am happy that they are being acknowledged for their contributions. Furthermore, how neat is it that the Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed will be traveling to our great city. I haven’t seen any other D.C. outlets really giving this coverage, but I knew I could count on The Informer.
