D.C. Divas Remain Unbeaten at 9-0

The D.C. Divas advanced to the conference finals with a 27-17 victory over the visiting Pittsburgh Passion. Defensive end Sharina Western recovered a fumble to set up running back Tiffany Matthews 4-yard touchdown run to make it 7-0 Divas. Pittsburgh added a field goal, then opened the second half with a long touchdown drive.

The Divas answered with a 14-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Allyson Hamlin to wide receiver Tara Stephenson to make it 14-7, followed by a 35-yard interception return by cornerback Kathryn Hemlock. Running back Rachelle Pecovsky-Bentley scored to make the score 20-10 Divas. Each team scored one more touchdown, and the Divas defense recorded six sacks and forced three turnovers.

Our players, coaches, staff and ownership have worked hard and it showed,€ said head coach Keith Howard. €The Divas now travel to Boston to take on the Militia in the conference championship game on Sat., July 11. The winner advances to the National Championship game on Sat., July 25 in Austin, Texas.
