Forward Antawn Jamison led the Wizards with 36 points on 13-of-22 shooting, guard Nick Young added 20 points off the bench and rookie center JaVale McGee played some solid fourth-quarter defense on Howard to keep it close. "I thought we sustained our effort pretty well this evening," Wizards interim coach Ed Tapscott said. "Our young guys got some good experience against one of the top three teams in the Eastern Conference. It was a good effort."
Sources close to Patrick Ewing, a former assistant coach with the Wizards during the 2002-03 season, said that Ewing would be "receptive" if Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld had any interest in interviewing him for the Wizards head coaching position next season. Sources close to interim head coach Ed Tapscott expect him to return to a front office role with the team after this year. According to the Orlando Sentinel, Ewing will not publicly comment about specific jobs that might open after the season out of respect for those interim coaches currently coaching the teams.
