Swim on Sat., Sept 12, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Upshur Pool and at Francis Pool in Northwest. Dog handlers had to be 16 years of age or older, and could not swim or enter the pool with their dogs. The dogs had to be trained and remain leashed while on the pool deck. All dogs had to wear a current D.C. dog license; vaccination tags or have a current rabies certificate or letter from their veterinarian stating that they have received necessary shots in order to gain entry to the event.

€This event is very popular in Maryland and Virginia, because there are so many dog lovers in D.C. it was time to introduce the sport here in the city. It should be a fun day for the dogs and their owners and form as a social event for dogs and owners to get to know each other during the event,€ said DPR representative John Stokes.
