Washington Mystics owner Sheila Johnson was presented a congressional award by Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton to celebrate Women's History Month. The award was presented prior to a basketball clinic conducted by members of the Mystics and attended by high school seniors and coaches from Coolidge, H.D.Woodson, Dunbar and McKinley Tech.

€We think that the best way to celebrate Women€s History month this year is to feature Sheila Johnson, a woman who has already made history and continues to do so. She is a one-of-a-kind leader for young women in D.C. whose lives in sports can help them excel in whatever they do,€ said Congresswoman Norton.

Johnson encouraged the girls to use the examples, achievements and high standards set by members of her team, €You are in company with the best athletes in the world, enjoy every minute of it. The doors are open for each one of you, go forward in the world and make use of it, take it back to your school, and always remember to say I can do it.€
