Local Football Stars Taken in NFL Draft

Dunbar and Friendly High School Stars Selected in First two Rounds of NFL Draft...Suitland High School represented in the 3rd Round

Arrelious Benn of Dunbar High School in D.C. and Joe Haden of Friendly High School in Fort Washington, MD represented the area high schools in D.C. and Prince George's County very well in the 2010 NFL Draft ,as the number seven was lucky for each one.

Haden was selected 7th overall as a cornerback from The University of Florida by The Cleveland Browns. At Friendly, he played quarterback and set the Maryland public school record with 7,371 career passing yards and tied the record for touchdown passes with 80.

Benn was the 7th pick of the second round (39th overall) as a wide receiver out of The University of Illinois. He was a five-star recruit coming out of Dunbar High School where he played wide receiver, running back, safety, and linebacker in high school, and was named a First Team High School All American his senior season.

In the 3rd round, Suitland High School's Navorro Bowman, a Linebacker from Penn State was selected 91st overall by the San Francisco 49ers. In high school, Bowman was named the Maryland Defensive Player-of-the-Year, first-team All-State, Washington Post first-team All-Met and first-team All-Conference.
