Thanks to funding from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, and the work of national non-profit KaBOOM!, the KIPP D.C. charter school's Benning Road campus recently received an innovative new Imagination Playground equipment system. To celebrate, Washington Redskins Quarterback Donovan McNabb joined Arne Duncan and KIPP D.C. CEO Susan Schaeffler in an unveiling ceremony. After the ceremony, students from KIPP DC: Promise Academy elementary school took the innovative new equipment for a test drive. David Rockwell to encourage child-directed, unstructured free play. Complete with custom designed blue foam blocks, loose parts, and elements that encourage sand and water play, Imagination Playground in a Box allows children to constantly reconfigure their environment and design their own course of play.Courtesy Photo
