Pepco Awards GWUL $85,000 Grant to Provide Emergency Utility Assistance

Thomas Graham, President of Pepco Region, announced a grant to the Greater Washington Urban League to provide emergency electric and gas utility assistance to District residents at the League's 12th Annual Golf Tournament.This is the fourth year that Pepco has provided funding to the League for emergency utility assistance. Last year's grant of $70,000 served 157 families representing 449 persons.
Community residents must apply for assistance and be approved. The maximum amount available for assistance is $500, which can be divided between electric and/or gas accounts. Recipients can only receive assistance once during a 12-month period and must meet eligibility requirements. Eligible recipients are those who meet income requirements and provide all required documents. All support is based on the availability of funds.

Pepco At GWUL Golf Tournament
Pepco was a a major sponsor of the League's tournament held on September 27 at Lake Presidential Golf Course in Upper Marlboro, MD. The tournament provides vital funds for League programs. On the Pepco Team are DC Councilmember At-Large Michael Brown, Pepco President Thomas Graham, Pepco Holdings Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Beverly Perry and Ted Trabue, Executive Director, DC Economic Empowerment Coalition.
Rick "Doc" Walker, ESPN 980 Host, former Super Bowl Champion player and tight end in the NFL (Washington Redskins and Cincinnati Bengals) received this year's prestigious Sam Lacy Award, in honor of the legendary Afro-American newspaper sports writer.
