Jauhar Abraham, who co-founded the anti-youth violence group Peaceoholics with Ron Moten, plans to run in next year's election for the Ward 8 Council seat that's currently held by Marion Barry, according to a published report.
While Abraham has praised the popular veteran council member for his good deeds to the Ward 8 community, he reportedly said he believes Barry, 75, has lost touch with its residents and needs to step down.
Moten recently announced his intent t run for the Ward 7 council seat. But Abraham has denied that had anything to with his decision.
"I was inspired by God," Abraham -- who plans to resign Peaceaholics this month to concentrate on his campaign -- was quoted as telling the Washington City Paper.
He added that the Lord woke him up one recent night and gave him an ultimatum: Run against Barry, or get out of the way, according to the City Paper.
