In the 30 years since the Camp David Peace deal, Israel has relocated more than 500,000 Israelis into the Occupied West Bank, this in defiance of settled international law.
In the almost 20 years since the Israeli-Palestinian Oslo peace talks have been made public, Israel has turned the West Bank into a Swiss-cheese of armed Israeli settlements surrounded by a concrete "separation wall" with separate highways on which only Israelis may travel, and worse, they have expanded their incursions deep into Arab neighborhoods in Arab East Jerusalem, the place Palestinians envision as their capital city, the place Israelis insist is the "undivided capital" of the Jewish state.
Every day the waiting game plays into the Israeli plan. Every day the Palestinians don't surrender and agree unconditionally to Israel's take-it-or-leave-it ultimatum, Israel plans more new and expanded settlements on occupied Arab land. They come in and destroy the homes of the Palestinians, they bulldoze over their olive and fruit groves, and they are systematically seizing more and more Palestinian land.
If there would be a Palestinian state it would have no military, and no control of its own borders. Indeed, there would even be a permanent Israeli military presence on what would be left of Palestinian land. And guess who has signed off on that arrangement?
That's right, Barry Obama.
Bibi is definitely holding the best hand in this deal. Why, Israel has got rights like it's the 51st state in the Union.
