Former Prince George's County Executive Jack Johnson was slated to appear in federal court in Greenbelt Tuesday to face arraignment stemming from his arrest late last year on corruption charges.

Johnson, 62, was taken into custody along with his wife, Leslie Johnson, 58, after an FBI raid on their Mitchellville, Md., home.

He is accused of accepting bribes from developers in a pay-to-pay scheme that the FBI said had gone on for almost the entire eight years Johnson had been in office. His term expired last December - the same month Leslie Johnson was seated on the County Council, representing the 6th District.

She is accused of evidence tampering after FBI agents who had wiretapped the couple's phones, heard Jack Johnson tell her to flush a $100,000 from a developer down a toilet.

Leslie Johnson faces a preliminary hearing in April.
