Team Takeover Remains Unbeaten in EYBL

Team Takeover (DC) after two rounds of play in the Nike Elite Basketball League is the only undefeated team in the 32 team tournament. The tournament features the top seniors and juniors in the United States. Takeover which won last years championship under head coach Keith Stevens is in a position to claim the title this summer. The second round was played at the Fieldhouse in Frisco, Tx.
"I am surprised with only one returning veteran (James Robinson) that the new kids have understood the system we employ so quickly." Stevens said.
"As a veteran I explained to the players that the speed of the game is different at the 17 level than the 16 level ." Robinson said. " The game is quicker than they realize until we start playing."
In their first game Takeover defeated Mac Irvin (Chicago) 84-62. Jerami Grant, Patrick Holloway, and Arnaud Adala Moto led with way with 16 points a piece. Jonathan Tshibuy finished with 10 points as Takeover featured four players in double figures.
Game two saw the Takeover jump out to a 40-22 lead at the half over the Tennessee Travelers only to have the Travelers outscore Takeover the defending champs 47-34 to make the final score 74-69. Jerami Grant led Takeover with 16 points while grabbing 5 rebounds. Arnaud Adala Moto chipped in with 12 points and 6 rebounds. James Robinson added 11 points and 4 rebounds for the defending champs.
Game three featured the Albany Rocks (NY) and their duo of 6'3 Richard Ledo and 6'8 DaJuan Coleman both considered among the top 50 upcoming seniors in the United States.
Takeover survived another touch contest in defeating the Rocks 58-51. James Robinson led all scorers with 15 points. Patrick Holloway added 12 points. Beejay Anya was a force on the glass grabbing 11 rebounds.
"We played great team defense on Coleman not allowing him to get the ball where he likes it (in the paint)" Takeover coach Keith Stevens said. Coleman was held to 10 points and 10 rebounds. Ledo was held to 12 points.
Game four featured Louisiana Select and 6'6 235lb. Ricardo Gathers considered one of the top seniors in the south region. Gathers who attends Riverside Academy led all scorers and rebounders with 19 points and 15 rebounds respectively.
Despite Gathers offensive explosion Takeover defeated the Select 65-57. Jerami Grant led Takeover in scoring with 17 points. James Robinson chipped in with 16 points. Jonathan Tshibuy assisted with 10 points and 9 rebounds.
In their final game of pool play Takeover defeated the Oakland Soldiers (Ca.) 66-60. Jerami Grant led Takeover with 18 points. James Robinson chipped in with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Jonathan Tshibuy finished with 15 points.
Round three will be held at the HAX complex at Harbor City, Ca. May 28th-May 30th.
