"We are overwhelmed with the tremendous generosity of M&T and its commitment to the work of Mary's Center for the last two decades," says Julie Martinez Ortega, Chair of Mary's Center Board of Directors.
Mary's Center's Building Better Futures Together Campaign was created to diversify the Center's funding which despite its strong reputation and foothold in the District of Columbia and Maryland, is at risk of losing up to $2.6 Million in grant funding due to the imminent public-sector budget cuts.
"Our plan is to use the campaign funds to increase the number of families we serve, strengthen our current programs, and build up the value of our endowment so that as federal and local dollars are eliminated, our programs will remain strong and improving the lives and opportunities for our most resilient and yet the most vulnerable families during any economic downturn," says Mary's Center President and CEO Maria Gomez.
Contributors to the $4 M comprehensive campaign will be able to leave a lasting legacy through naming opportunities available for the Center's rooms, spaces, equipment, program and services.
The check presentation ceremony will take place at Mary's Center's third and brand new site located at 3912 Georgia Avenue, NW, on Monday, September 12, at 10 am.
