College and High School Report: Coolidge Remains Undefeated

The Howard Bison dropped a 23-9 MEAC contest to the Spartans of Norfolk State. Spartan quarterback Chris Walley threw for two touchdowns in the win.

" We didn't do a good job as a team and that was discouraging," said coach Gary Harrell at his post game conference.

The Bison are now set to travel to the Meadowlands on Sept. 24 to face In other local scores, Bowie State defeated Livingstone 41-14 in their homecoming contest.

Georgetown dropped a 37-27 decision to Yale on the road.

In other college scores, Old Dominion edged Hampton 45-42. South Florida 70-17. Indiana defeated South Carolina State 38-21. Elon edged North Carolina Central 23-22. Morgan State edged Robert Morris 13-12, and Lincoln defeated Virginia Union 19-10.

In the ACC, a mixed bag of results this weekend with Florida State losing to Oklahoma 23-13. West Virginia edged Maryland 37-31. Clemson stopped 38-24, and Georgia Tech blasted Kansas 66-24.

In other games this weekend, Hampton travels to Daytona Beach to face Bethune-Cookman in n ESPNU Thursday night special. The kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Norfolk State travels to Charleston Southern for a 1:30p.m. kickoff.

South Carolina hosts Delaware State with the kickoff set for 2p.m., and North Carolina Central hosts Savannah State in a 6 p.m. start.

In high school football, Coolidge blasted Ballou 47-6. Dunbar blanked Anacostia 40-0. Spingarn defeated Cardozo 28-14. Massillon (Ohio) beat HD Woodson 35-14. Perry State Prep beat Options 34-14. McKinley defeated Crossland 32-28. Forestville edged Roosevelt 13-7. St. John's blanked Wilson 37-0. E. Roosevelt edged Wise on a 25 yard field goal by Harrison Ambe wit three seconds left. CH Flowers over Bladensburg 25-20. DuVal blanked High Point 68-0, and Georgetown Prep over Gonzaga 38-24.

Also, on Friday Anacostia travels to Wilson. Coolidge travels to Calvert Hall. Bell versus Kipp at Cardozo. HD Woodson travels to Glen Mills (Pa.). Roosevelt hosts McKinley. Options travels to Spingarn.and E Roosevelt travels to Oxon Hill. All games start at 7p.m. Maya Angelou travels to Cardozo in a 4 p.m. kickoff.

On Saturday, Bowie travels to Wise. DuVal hosts Bladensbug. Suitland travels to Laurel. CH Flowers hosts Nortwestern. and Gwynn Park travels to Crossland.
