Thousands of unemployed District residents are expected to attend the Path2Work: A One City * One Hire Job Seeker's Symposium, Saturday (April 14) at the Washington Convention Center. The event, which is being sponsored by the Department of Employment Services (DOES) in partnership with Mayor Vincent C. Gray, aims to motivate unemployed individuals, who in many instances, have given up hope. Path2Work will also help them secure gainful employment, including connecting pre-screened, qualified job seekers to employers who have current and upcoming job vacancies in their organizations.

"Even though the unemployment rate in D.C. has gone down for three straight months, there are still thousands of people across D.C. that are out of work and searching for hope and jobs," said DOES Director Lisa Maria Mallory. "We have to continuously motivate job seekers and make sure they have the necessary skills to qualify them to fill open positions available through private sector and government employers. That's our Path2Work."
