Joseph Rigby Receives Honor from Washington Business Journal Poll
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Joseph M. Rigby, Pepco Holdings Inc. Chairman, President and CEO, was voted the "Best Business Philanthropist" in the Washington metropolitan area in an informal online poll conducted by The Washington Business Journal (WBJ) from December 2, 2011 through January 25, 2012. Rigby, a write-in candidate, topped a formidable list of area philanthropists.
Directly tied to their 30th annual Book of Lists event, WBJ introduced a write-in component to this year's inaugural polling event. WBJ conducts weekly polling on various topics and believes this new category will prove to be of interest to readers.
"I am honored to receive this recognition as the 'Best Business Philanthropist' by Washingtonians," said Rigby. "Pepco Holdings has a long standing tradition of giving to the communities it serves. This tradition extends well beyond our commitment to provide customers with reliable electric service. Community service and charitable giving are core values at PHI as demonstrated by the more than $1 million raised each year by Pepco Holdings for the 2010 and 2011 United Way campaigns."
Mr. Rigby is Chairman of the United Way of the National Capital Area and Chairman of the Greater Washington Board of Trade. He serves on the boards of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Edison Electric Institute, the Federal City Council, the Trust for the National Mall and the Greater Washington Initiative.
