Amazon.com CEO Jeff Bezos is buying The Washington Post and other newspapers for $250 million, the Post announced Monday.
The deal will be made independent of Amazon.com Inc., said The Washington Post Co., which publishes the paper.
The company, which owns the Kaplan education business and several TV stations, said it will change its name but didn't announce what the change would be.
"I understand the critical role the Post plays in Washington, D.C. and our nation, and the Post's values will not change,” Bezos said. "Our duty to readers will continue to be the heart of the Post, and I am very optimistic about the future."
