President Obama met with members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated in the Oval Office to commemorate the organization’s centennial anniversary and their 51st convention. The White House

President Obama met with members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. in the Oval Office on Tuesday, July 16, to commemorate the organization's centennial anniversary and their 51st convention.

He acknowledged the sorority's long history of community service, mentoring, and advocacy work in communities across the country.

On hand were the organization's past presidents Mona Bailey, Gwendolyn Boyd, Frankie Freeman, Rep. Marcia Fudge, member and former Labor Secretary Alexis Herman, National President Cynthia Butler-McIntyre, honorary member and Ambassador Suzan Johnson Cook, White House staff members Valerie Jarrett, Senior Adviser to the President and Heather Foster, Public Engagement Adviser and Director of African American Outreach.
