LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Another Disappointing Politician

As I was reading the article in your June 13-19 issue, regarding Michael Brown’s guilty plea, I was both saddened and disappointed. Saddened because Mr. Brown obviously learned nothing from the disgrace of his former colleagues on the D.C. Council (Harry Thomas Jr. and Kwame Brown); disappointed because I wasted my vote on Brown. He served on the council from 2009-2013.

I now tend to agree with those who say that we must start looking very, very closely at our candidates for public office, and make the sometimes difficult decision to vote “outside of the box.” If we had done this with Michael Brown, we could have saved ourselves and the city from this embarrassing situation.

DHCD Moves to Prince George’s County!

I am so glad that Prince George’s County is finally getting a major state agency to locate its headquarters here. This has been a long time coming, as stated in Gale Horton Gay’s article in your June 13-19 issue.

The mixed use property that the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) will occupy will provide jobs and residential and retail options for Prince George’s County residents. Thank goodness we are getting this agency within our borders! It should have happened long ago.
