D.C. Council member Tommy Wells (D-Ward 6) will host a job fair in Northwest on Friday, May 31.

The event, which will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the lobby of the Tyler House apartment complex on N. Capitol Street, is free and open to all job seekers.

Prospective employers that will be on site include WMATA, Comcast, Safeway and the city's Department of Employment Services.

Wells, who recently announced his bid for mayor in 2014, organized the fair along with several community groups and officials.

“Creating opportunities for employment and career development continues to be a need in the District," the council member said. "I appreciate the united front that we've developed — with faith leaders, community organizations, civic leaders, and local businesses — to ensure the District’s young people have productive outlets and opportunities like this."
