D.C. Council member Anita Bonds has secured a key endorsement in her bid for re-election.

Members of the Service Employees International Union Maryland/DC State Council announced Tuesday that Bonds deserves the support of District voters in the April 1 Democratic primary for the at-large seat.

"Anita Bonds is helping to protect the District's most vulnerable residents who are increasingly being priced out of their own city," said Jaime Contreras, State Council president and 32BJ SEIU vice president. "By creating more affordable housing, Bonds' efforts would strengthen communities that are critical to the District's economy and identity."

The union has also endorsed D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray (D) and D.C. Council Chairman Pro Tem Kenyan McDuffie (D-Ward 5) for re-election.
