Our weak gun laws make it "just too easy," as President Obama put it, for terrorists or the mentally unbalanced or the irate to walk in and buy an assault weapon, designed explicitly to kill lots of people in battle.
The inner-cities in which most blacks live have some of the most draconian gun laws in the nation. That is no coincidence.
What we have here is a national security emergency. There is national mourning for the victims of the mass killing at Umpqua Community College in Oregon. But Chicago is experiencing an Umpqua almost every week.
One has to wonder how many more murders we have to witness and suffer through before we abandon our Wild, Wild West mentality where all good men are allowed to carry a gun on their hips and use it to protect their livestock, their homesteads and their loved ones.
A few less guns are on the streets in Forest Heights thanks to a gun exchange event.
