The McKinley Tech Trainers started their football season off on a four game losing streak and their chances of reaching DCIIA’s Inaugural Gravy Bowl seemed a bit farfetched especially they were losing by double digit margins. Late September the Trainers trampled over Roosevelt 44-0, a win that changed the tide and the Trainers went on a winning streak ending the regular season 8-4 and earning their place in the inaugural Gravy Bowl against the Phelps Panthers at Eastern Senior High School in Southeast on Saturday, Nov. 23. The McKinley Tech Trainers manhandled the Panthers on defense and outplayed them on offense throughout the game. The Panthers would move the ball up the field a few times and then costly mistakes resulted in interceptions, and fumbles. McKinley Tech capitalized on those mistakes and beat Phelps 34-0. McKinley Tech faces Friendship Collegiate Academy in the MDCSAA Semi Finals on Saturday, Nov. 30.
