Antoinette Bradley, a senior at Friendly High School in Fort Washington, Md., has a 3.62 grade point average.

Academically, she listed as the most improved student at the end of her freshman year in high school, and with a commitment to excellence, Antoinette has enrolled in several Honors courses that include English, U.S. history, world history, Algebra 2, Biology and Chemistry.

The future Olympian who plans to run track at a Division I school, is captain of Friendly High School’s Track and Field Team where she holds record time in the 500- and 800-meter race. The state champion in the 500-meter is a qualifier in the 2016 and 2017 Junior Olympics, has also won several regional competitions.

A member of the JROTC Athletic Team, Antoinette is also talented singer and community volunteer with hopes becoming a film and television producer.

She has pending applications at the University of Maryland, University of South Carolina, Penn State, University of Pittsburgh and American University.


French Immersion Students Visit France

Last fall, Central High School French Immersion families hosted a group of French students, and this time PGCPS students got to spend two weeks in France representing the United States through the Young Ambassadors Program.

The students’ first week was spent in Paris learning about French History, culture, society and institutions.

During the second week they participated in Immersion programs in various regions throughout France and attended local high schools.

Two-Year Career Academies

The deadline to apply for PGCPS’ Two-Year Career Academies is March 12.

Current 10th-grade students can apply for the academies, which are available out-of-boundary. Students applying for a two-year academy must have at least a 2.0 GPA and a grade of a “C” or higher in algebra and/or biology.

If the number of applicants who meet the requirements is greater than the number of seats available, seats are assigned by lottery.

Culinary Arts Scholarship

Completed applications and any related documents must be submitted to the Professional School Counselor by Friday, March 16.

Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
