What an exciting weekend we just had, me and my two co-hosts, Pat Cannady and Crystal Smith and our planning committee when we came together Saturday, June 13 at The Mill, in Baltimore, Maryland to celebrate my third radio show anniversary.  It was three years ago when we first came on the air at Spirit 1340, WYCB AM Washington, a Radio One Station.

It has not been easy to pay for our show weekly but God has been good. We’ve made sacrifices and had some outstanding sponsors. AmeriHealth Caritas District of Columbia is my biggest sponsor; a special thank you to Karen Dale and Keith Maccannon. I’m very grateful for your continued support.

My next big sponsor is attorney Jack H. Olender. He was my first sponsor and has been there for me from day one. Thank you sir; your support has meant a lot. I knew I could not turn back after you said yes. So thank you so very much. And if any of my readers are in need of a malpractice attorney, give Jack H. Olender & Associates, P.C. a call.  He is one of the top malpractice attorneys in America; and thank you Attorney Shelore Williams as well.

Thank you to Denise Rolark-Barnes and The Washington Informer Newspaper for your continued sponsorship and support. You help me to get the word out there, thank you.

Thank you to the Coca-Cola Bottlers, Curtis Etherly and Katelyn Jackson. I’m so grateful for your support; your orange juice and water products fit right in with our show theme; we talk about health often on The Lyndia Grant Show; Think on These Things.

This year we celebrated our best health fair. It was difficult for me to write this column because I did so much zumba, exercising like I did when I was in high school. So, afterwards, I could hardly walk. The aches and pains I felt for two days. Wow, I must really be out of shape. But I did work out quite a bit folks; an exercise kick-off, for me. Now, I will continue to walk daily as I have done for so many years but with my busy work schedule, exercise was no longer my routine.

At our health fair this year, we had several zumba groups; self-defense, karate instructors; body coaches; and a special thank you to Erica Hall MSN, ANP-BC, CDE, nurse practitioner, diabetes educator at Johns Hopkins Hospital. She and I did a tag-team workshop. As a certified ambassador for the American Diabetes Association of Washington, I gave my testimony about my story and the story of my mother. Nurse Erica Hall came up with me and her presentation from a medical perspective was awesome. The good news though, Erica told how she became a diabetes education specialty nurse. It was because her father suffered from complications of diabetes as well. He had amputations and she is from North Carolina.

The Johns Hopkins relationship began with Dr. Sherita Hill-Golden, the director of the Inpatient Diabetes Management Department. She was my first guest when my show went into syndication in the City of Baltimore with Spirit 1400 WWIN, also a Radio One Station. She and I talked about Type 2 diabetes. Thank you very much for your support, Dr. Sherita Hill-Golden. You shared valuable information with my listeners. She also confirmed Dr. Debra Crews who was another outstanding medical doctor from Johns Hopkins.  Dr. Crews talked about “Kidney Disease in African Americans” – another fantastic show.

To God be the glory for the things He has done. We are delighted to share with the listeners weekly and we look forward to another exciting year.
