American University has created a program providing students with an opportunity to get their foot in the congressional door.

The university’s Washington Semester Program allows students to earn 12-17 AU credits for one semester, that are transferable, along with the chance to intern at a diverse range of organizations, government agencies and other businesses.

The academic seminars offered include American politics, foreign policy, and international law and organizations. Participants are also allotted a stipend of up to $10,000.

Organizations involved in this program include BBC News, both the Democratic and Republican national committees and the World Bank.
